About Roger Clarke

Roger Clarke Roger Clarke discovered his love for oil painting at the age of 13 having found some paints in his family garage, from there it quickly became a vocation and his school years were spent doing nothing else, The Art room became his home. After time spent at the Cardiff School of Art, courting favour from the Slade School and selling work throughout his teenage years, he dropped away from the art form and became increasingly more interested in the London lifestyle and photography, but it was to Oil Painting that he would always return. Although it wasn't until a serious back injury in 2017 that a full time career as a Fine Artist would materialise. With over 60 worldwide sales since then, Roger has become an established member of the artistic community in Brisbane, Australia with his work being heavily influenced by the techniques and styles of the English Landscape movement and Post Impressionism. His heavily textured abstract work is also very much in demand with significant commercial works and commissions adding to his growing reputation. Claude Monet's quote that "Light is the most important person in the painting." has almost become a mantra, with atmosphere and subtlety being very much to the fore.
